The Proplem
Many available service company websites processes are very frustrating. Unclear information, difficulty to have a proper quote, site page to busy
Challenges
-
Make sure the website is not convoluted with to good amount of information
-
Using signifiers to make the user flow easy and intuitive
-
Design for screen sizes variation to fit specific user's needs
To Start with:
To design a better offer than other cleaning companies I conducted interviews and looked into several user-reported features that are considered vital and identified which ones Bioprism could capitalize on.
One important key that came back often is that the website should be also mobile friendly.
User research Pain points
1
Service company websites are often convoluted and too busy
2
Many informations are hard to get. Often a phone call is necessary. Which is time-consuming and makes the use of their websites useless
3
Many platforms lack of assistive technologies for people with disabilities

Name: Henry
Age: 39
Family: Single
Occupation: Business Owner
Amelia is a 52 years-old university professor and a single mother of 2 young kids. As a good Mom, she cares a lot for their well-being and the safety of her family. Being a mom can be challenging in many ways and one of those is her busy schedule. That’s why she wants to hire a cleaning company that can treat her carpets and sofas. Her young children have the tendency of spilling everything on her upholsteries, so she gets frustrated and confused while browsing for a company online that can treat that issue due to the lack of information on the products they use, prices, services, etc.
Henry is a 39 years-old Business owner. As a business owner, Henry is always busy. He doesn't have time to clean his house himself, so he's looking for a cleaning company that can do it for him. However, he doesn't want just any company - he wants one that uses only green and safe products. He knows that these products are better for the environment, and he doesn't want his health or his friends health to be exposed to harmful chemicals
User journey mapping
I created the user journey map of Amelia’s experience using website to help identify possible pain points to improve them.

Sitemap
Difficulty with website navigation was the top 1 paint point for users.
I used that knowledge to create an easy sitemap. The goal was to make the main information as visible as possible for clear and intuitive navigation.

Ideation, Wireframes & Mockups
I sketched out paper wireframes keeping in mind the user pain points: coherent and straightforward navigation. The home page paper wireframe spotlighted all the information needed to optimize the user experience.

Style Guide
Utilizing a soft gradient consisting of a balance of cool and energetic colors felt like the perfect fit for Bioprism's branding. The white background help to evoke clean and honest senses to the users. Dark brown portrays a trustworthy and simple feelings
The main typeface of choice for the app is Segeo. I felt this typeface best fit the app do to it's extreme versatility through uppercase and lowercase styling, as well as dark and light text fills.

Takeaways
I learned that to make the design responsive in different screen sizes is not a copy past from the original site version. Each steps should have the user needs in priority.
